Taking one picture a day, every day for a year and posting the results here. This is my effort to become a better photographer. Will it work? Stay tuned to find out!

Nandina
I'm told these plants are actually weeds and if you let the berries fall you'll have Nandina all over your yard.
We have about four plants along our property line and I keep hoping for a small forest of nandina to spring up but so far that hasn't happened. I happen to think the bush is very pretty and the bright red berries in the middle of winter make pretty good holiday decorations.
So here we have not the berries, but the bright red leaves against the remains of our record 19 inch snowfall. We were supposed to get more snow this morning and I had dreams of photographing a wonderful winter snowscape. Clearly that didn't happen.

Sunrise over Scroll
And today I went outside in the cold morning air to take a picture of the sunrise but as sunrises go it wasn't colorful. I was finishing breakfast when I turned and noticed the shadows hitting the kitchen wall. Jemma and I have often remarked how neat they are so I decided to try for a picture of that.
The wall scroll is another we got while in China.

A Metal Slime Appeared!
This little fellow was a gift to myself since I'm a crazy fan of the Dragon Quest series. I still remember the first time I actually managed to kill one of these little buggers. My dad and I watched as I leveled up and then proceeded to try and hunt them. A lesson in futility if there ever was one.
Most of these pictures have been inside this week since I'm trying to get over a cold. Hopefully I'll be better enough soon to get outside.

A little late for Christmas
Or really really early depending on how you look at it. This is the decoration sitting outside our local Food Co-op. The reds and greens caught my eye so I decided to try and get a good shot.
I'm hoping to get out on some hiking trails to practice wider views again but first I need to get over this cold and it needs to get above the teens. I love a good brisk walk as much as the next person but low teens is a little too brisk for me.

Bamboo View
This is of the bamboo plant that sits on our kitchen table. It was a wedding gift from friends who loved the fact that I named our house The Bamboo Grove. (I name houses. So far we've lived in the Sunset Terrace, Iris Pavilion, and the Sunny Cottage.) The name comes from the fact that we painted bamboo on the walls of our study.

The Wall
And today we feature one corner of the bedroom. The scroll is one of the many we bought while in China and the hanging glass was a gift from a friend. This image is only edited as far as rotating it. I may start doing some basic color correction in photoshop.
This image also turned out a bit blurry but we live and learn right?
